Involvement of Office Regarding Concealed Carry Permits

Concealed carry permit requests proceed to increase since the law took effect as of the beginning of January 2014. Over 15,000 applications have been received by
the Illinois State Police.

Applicants not only face a host of requirements – including training courses, background checks and fees – they will need to submit fingerprints in an electronic format to state police.

To that end, the Madison County Regional Office of Education, located on the fourth floor of the County Administration Building, is offering fingerprinting for a fee. In fact, the ROE has been a public electronic fingerprinting facility for the past 10 years, according to ROE Assistant Superintendent Andrew Reinking.
For a $25 fee, residents – including those who apply for a concealed carry permit – can use the ROE’s Livescan technology to have a copy of their fingerprints sent to the Illinois State Police; for $17 more, they will be sent to the F.B.I.
