You won’t want to miss the May issue of Combat Handguns, where we test STI’s new trio of Tactical Single Stack 1911 pistols. The SS 3.0, SS 4.0 and SS 5.0 are designed to provide the soldier, law enforcement officer or armed professional with the ultimate in fighting pistols. Available in 9mm, .40 or .45 caliber with 3-, 4- or 5-inch barrels and two frame sizes, all three feature full-length dustcovers, slab-sided slides, integral Picatinny rails, Heinie Ledge rear sights and ambidextrous thumb safeties. Recoil control is enhanced by frame checkering, beavertail grip safeties and textured Hogue Chain Link grips while a bushingless, match-grade bull barrel insures accuracy.
All internal parts are hand-fitted while the skeletonized triggers are adjustable for overtravel and set at the factory for a crisp, single-action let-off of between 4.5 and 5.25 pounds. Beveled magazine wells make for smooth reloads while STI’s Recoil Master guide rod system makes for easy disassembly.
Each pistol comes with one fitted magazine and a padded carrying case.
