Henry Big Boy Revolver: Gunfighter & Birdshead Models in 357/38

Henry just dropped some monster news today with the announcement of the release of the company’s first ever revolver. The Henry Big Boy Revolver debuts in .357/.38 Spl. Henry offers up two options right out of the gate, with the choice of a Gunfighter or Birdshead model, based on the grip style.

Henry Big Boy Revolver

It appears Henry Repeating Arms is a company transforming–rapidly–right before our eyes. At SHOT Show, Henry launched its first ever semi-auto rifle, with it shockingly jumped into the PCC market of all places. The Henry Homesteader brought us a box-fed, semi-auto 9mm carbine, featuring a classic wood and blue look like the carbines of old. And a bunch of shooters immediately yelled their praise at this new effort from Henry. Add in the multiple product launches, along with the addition of side loading gates to the lever rifles cool offerings like the Mare’s Leg and Axe, and Henry is clearly listening to shooters and its customers. Now the company pivots again with the Big Boy Revolver.

The Big Boy Revolver comprises a classically-styled wheelgun platform. Shooters can pick between the rounded Birdshead grip or the traditional Gunfighter. Each comes with highly polished blued steel throughout the medium-framed revolver. A quick-release cylinder, 4-inch barrel and American walnut grip panels deliver a seriously vintage appeal.

The guns weigh in at 34 ounces overall, with a double-action/single-action trigger pull. A traditional fixed notch and ramped front blade provide the timeless sight picture. To keep it modern, a transfer bar safety prevents the firing pin from striking on a loaded chamber unless the hammer is cocked and trigger squeezed. Finally, capable of handling both .357 Magnum and .38 Spl. loads, you’ve got a revolver well suited to hunting, plinking, defense and more.

Editor’s Take:

Once again, Henry caught us not ready or expecting what they would release next. Much like the Homesteader, the Big Boy Revolver represents quite a pivot in gunmaking. Crafting a quality revolver isn’t the easiest of manufacturing and assembly process. But in our experience, Henry doesn’t get a lot wrong when they bring a firearm to market. So we can’t wait to get these new wheelguns in for review. Stay tuned for a full test soon in American Frontiersman.
