Just in time for hunting season comes two new rangefinder optics from SIG Sauer, with the KILO10K-ABS HD and KILO8K-ABS. Although SIG has already had a monocular in their KILO line, this is the first introduction of a binocular. Both models are ready to deliver all of your ballistic information right to your BDX 2.0 enabled scope.
Two SIG Sauer Rangefinder Models—KILO10K-ABS HD & KILO8K-ABS
Both the KILO10K-ABS HD and KILO8K-ABS share many of the same features, including BDX 2.0 (Ballistic Data Exchange). Utilizing the BDX 2.0 system, coupled with a BDX 2.0 compatible scope, provides your ballistic data right on your scope. As a result, the rangefinder provides the information needed, in your scope, for enhanced accuracy, when you take the shot. BDX 2.0 is enabled with low energy, long range Bluetooth, for dependable communication between compatible products.
Additionally, onboard environmental sensors provide real-time ballistic calculations, and work in tandem with the included WeatherFlow Bluetooth WindMETER. Also, when used in connection with the BaseMap app, you can place waypoints for quick navigation to your game. Connectivity with the app also provides Applied Ballistics Ultralite with complete AB bullet database. Accordingly, this provides access to up to 25 custom bullet profiles and 8 onboard ballistic groups.
Each model also features the new Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting graphic display. The display provides relevant ballistic information such as range to target, elevation holdover, wind hold, energy on target and velocity at target distance. The Gen II Lightwave DSP engine also features new target modes, with Extended Range (XR) and Fog mode along with First, Best and Last target.
The Differences
The two SIG Sauer rangefinder models differ in a few noticeable areas. First, the overall package is different between the KILO8K-ABS monocular and the KILO10K-ABS HD, the first KILO Binocular. Next, the KILO8K-ABS has a maximum effective range of 8,000 yards, where the KILO10K-ABS HD is 10,000 yards.
Additionally, the KILO10K-ABS HD has a 42mm objective lens diameter, 6.1 º Field of View and 18mm eye relief. However, the KILO8K-ABS has a 25mm objective lens diameter, 6.78 º Field of View and 16mm eye relief. As the model names imply, the KILO10K-ABS HD has 10x magnification, whereas the KILO8K-ABS has 8x magnification. Finally, the KILO10K-ABS HD weighs a hefty 32 ounces, compared to the 7.5 ounces of the KILO8K-ABS.
