Buck Knives just announced its newest blade, one built specifically for everyday carry. The Buck 040 Onset brings a combination of rugged materials and technological design to deliver an affordable, high-grade EDC tool.
Buck 040 Onset EDC Knife
The 040 Onset features an S45VN Bos heat-treated flat grind blade with and ultra-smooth ball bearing flipper. It comes with a G10 top scale handle and removable belt clip. The framelock design sports a 3 3/8-inch drop point blade. The entire unit measures 4 7/8 inches overall when in the closed position. A Rockwell hardness of 59-61 helps ensure durability for everyday use. The blade maintains superior edge retention and solid toughness, according to Buck Knives.
Buck Knives developed the 040 Onset as part of its efforts to expand offerings in the EDC market. But the company brings nearly 120 years of knife making into this new arena. With the Buck name attached, we expect the 040 Onset to prove a solid, everyday workhorse.
“Buck’s legacy of crafting iconic products, some over a half century in continuous production, makes it easy to forget we have a state of the art facility in which we design, develop, and test our products,” said Chris Bourassa, Director of Marketing and Product Development. “The Onset is an exciting edition to our everyday carry class featuring a material and technical combination that’s tough to beat. Built, tested, and refined, every hand edged and hand sharpened 040 Onset is proudly made right here in Post Falls, Idaho.”
The 040 Onset retails for $180. For even more info, please visit buckknives.com.
