VIDEO: Security Guard Disarms Seattle Protestor With Stolen Patrol Rifle

A private security guard snatched a stolen police carbine from a protestor in Seattle May 30. With a pistol in hand and a rifle in a sling, the security guard advanced on the rioter and expertly disarmed him without incident. It proved to be one of two carbines stolen from a damaged police vehicle during the riot.

Security Guard Disarms Seattle Protestor With Rifle

Footage shows the armed security officer operating among the chaos. The security officer was protecting a news crew from Q13 News, who confirmed the guard.

“As I explained on air, our security guard felt that the public was in danger,” Tweeted Q13 News reporter Brandi Kruse. “He took the AR15 from the rioter and disabled it. We called 911 and waited to hand it over and continue our reporting. Protestors surrounded us, calling us police.”

Kruse further stated rioters fired the rifle into vehicles on the street. So her security guard, and his actions, likely saved lives.

“We have video of them firing one of them and were there when it happened,” Kruse Tweeted. “Witnessed it all. They shouted for people to ‘clear the block’ then fired and everyone ran.”

Seattle Police also later confirmed the unnamed security officer retrieved the two rifles. They credited his actions for potentially saving lives.

“Earlier today two rifles were stolen from SPD patrol cars that were set on fire. We have since recovered both rifles,” the police department said, according to washingtonexaminer.com. In another tweet the department acknowledged the video from Kruse, saying, “We are now unable to say if the rifles had been fired. Also thanks to her security guard for safely recovering both rifles and potentially saving lives. We’ll follow up if we get additional info.”
