Betts attempts to take Busse into custody. Before he can, Busse quickly moves to a small bush approximately 12 yards away.

Body camera footage shows Busse reaching into the bush and emerging with a black handgun. Police said he had hidden the handgun there prior to officers arriving on scene.

Officer Betts runs for cover upon seeing the handgun. Police said Busse chambered a round in his firearm and aimed it towards the officers during that time.

With Busse still focused on Pillette, Betts aims his .40 S&W Glock 22 from behind cover and gets two clear shots off. The first bullet hits Busse in the chest, causing him to fall to the ground.

Police said medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Busse deceased.
