Good news for DRD Tactical: A pair of law enforcement agencies in Georgia have selected the company’s Kivaari rifle for their SWAT teams after an extensive test and evaluation process. Unfortunately, the actual agencies aren’t named in the press release. They’re identified only as two “large and medium size” departments in the Peach State.

Initially released in 2015, DRD Tactical’s Kivaari is a semi-automatic takedown rifle in .338 Lapua Magnum or 300 Norma Magnum. The Georgia law enforcement agencies picked the version chambered in .338 Lapua. It features a 24-inch barrel with a 1/10 twist; aircraft aluminum upper and lower receivers; ambidextrous safety controls; non-reciprocating left side charging handle; 17-inch QD Rail with Magpul M-LOK for mounting accessories; SilencerCo’s QD muzzle brake and a Magpul PRS adjustable stock.
When fully assembled, the Kivaari 338 Lapua sports an overall length of 47 inches. It also weighs 13.6 pounds empty with the bipod. It comes with two 10-round magazines and features a 1-MOA accuracy guarantee with Lapua ammo.
MSRP for the DRD Tactical Kivaari 338 Lapua is $5000 for the Black Anodize or Cerakote FDE finish. That price goes up to $5400 with the NiB Battle Worn finish.

Basically, the Kivaari is a beast, and it’s a beast that, according to DRD Tactical’s press release, several countries are in the “export license process” of acquiring for their military and police units. It sounds like we’ll be hearing a lot more about the Kivaari going forward.
