Fans of the FN Military Collector Series — and we know there’s a lot of you out there — take note: there’s a fourth addition to this awesome line of guns. Say hello to the semi-auto FN M249S Para or Paratrooper model, originally developed for airborne troops. As you probably know, the FN Military Collector series consists of commercial, semi-auto versions of iconic military firearms. The other three guns in this line are the full-size FN M249S Standard and the FN 15 Military Collector M4 and M16.

The M249S Para in 5.56x45mm boasts a 16.1-inch, cold hammer-forged barrel, a closed bolt for semi-auto only operation, a M249 flip-up feed tray, an integrated steel bipod, a gas-piston system, and the famous telescoping and rotating buttstock to make it lighter and more compact, FN says. This rifle comes in both black (MSRP: $8,799) or Flat Dark Earth (MSRP: $9,199).
“The M249S Para is the fourth in our series of classic, semi-automatic FN military rifles and like the Standard, the Para is authentic to the last possible detail,” said John Keppeler, senior vice president of sales and marketing for FN America, LLC. “You’ll notice only two major differences between the semi- and full-auto versions – the barrel length and reconfigured internal components to change the rifle’s operation from open-bolt to closed-bolt. Authenticity was critical in this series and we changed as little as possible.”
