Military operations in urban terrain (MOUT) exercises are incredibly important to a Marine’s real-world training.
Marines with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, conducted MOUT training at Fort Pickett, Va., Aug. 17, 2016. The event was part of a deployment training exercise, preparing the Marines for potential real-world crisis scenarios.

“For the most part is just getting the fundamental, the individual skills — room clearing, clearing hallways, and going up stairs,” 1st Lt. William C. Vivian, Executive Officer of 1/2 Alpha Company, said regarding the MOUT training.
