Perhaps the most sought-after rifle that Daniel Defense makes is its excellent MK18 short-barrel rifle. The MK18 is based on a USSOCOM requirement and considered by some to be the best battle carbine in the world. However, the MK18 is a controlled item under the National Firearms Act, requiring the owner to obtain the requisite tax stamp and associated approvals.

The good news is that Daniel Defense has just released a pistol version of the MK18 in 5.56mm NATO. The MK18 pistol features the same mil-spec parts as the military/law enforcement carbine with the exception of the buffer tube. The bolt carrier group has an M16 profile and is HP/MP tested as well. The 5.56mm pistol features a 10.3-inch, government-profile, 1-in-7-inch-twist barrel that is forged from chrome-moly-vanadium steel and chrome lined. As with the MK18 carbine, the pistol is equipped with the RIS II quad-rail, which is the same rail fielded by USSOCOM. The flattop upper receiver and RIS II rail will accept a wide range of optics, iron sights, lights and other accessories.
TOTAL BLACKOUT
Recognizing the popularity of the 300 BLK cartridge, Daniel Defense has also introduced a 300 Blackout pistol. The 300 BLK pistol also features a 10.3-inch, cold-hammer-forged barrel and is equipped with the 9-inch DDM4 rail. The upper and lower receivers, and all of the internal components, meet the stringent specifications of Daniel Defense’s mil-spec rifles and carbines. The 300 BLK pistol offers many advantages of the popular short-barrel rifles without the hassle of registration. As shooters know, the 300 BLK is ideal for suppressed use, and the 10.3-inch barrel needs only to have an adaptor installed.
