North-Carolina-based Del-Ton manufactures several high-quality AR-platform rifles, including the Extreme Duty 316 rifle I recently got my hands on. This AR-pattern rifle is chambered in 5.56mm NATO will also shoot the .223 Remington cartridges. It is built on forged upper and lower receivers. The gun has a nice, durable hardcoat anodized black finish.

Del-Ton uses a 16-inch barrel with a 1-in-7-inch twist rate on the Extreme Duty 316. The barrel is threaded and is outfitted with an A2-type flash suppressor from the factory. It has standard handguards as well as an M4-type six-position-adjustable buttstock.
Up front, the Extreme Duty 316 has a full A2-style front sight tower while the rear sight is a Samson folding sight. The Samson rear sight quickly springs up into its firing position with the press of a button, and it is equipped with dual apertures. It is also fully adjustable.
The test gun I had was reasonably accurate, creating groups measuring less than 3 inches at 100 yards with most of the test ammo and using the iron sights. With an optic, I imagine those groups would tighten up nicely. Also, the gun appeared to be very reliable. Using different magazines and loads with different bullet weights did not cause any problems at all.
