Local California Police to Get New Glock 41 Gen4 Guns, Retro Badges

A local California police department is reportedly set to receive new handguns and badges. According to the Monterey County Herald, police in Seaside, California will soon begin using the new Glock 41 Gen4 .45 ACP handgun as a replacement for the Glock .40 cal, which has been in use for the past 12 years.

Seaside City Council will reportedly earmark $50,000 to purchase the handguns, as well as ammunition and equipment. The recommendation was made by Seaside Police Chief Vicki Myers, who said that the .45 ACP has better stopping power and accuracy than the .40 cal.

“The majority of the officers shot better with the .45-caliber round and documented favorable subjective impressions,” she said.

In addition, police officers can now buy special “retro style” badges to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Seaside’s incorporation. The badges will be retired at the end of this year.
