Construction of a military brain injury center has officially begun at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Groundbreaking on the new facility, which is named the Fort Bragg Intrepid Spirit Center, is set for today. It is the fourth center of its type in the nation.
According to Center spokeswoman Jen Pastrich, the new facility will diagnose and treat traumatic brain injuries, as well as post-traumatic stress and other conditions in service members.
Non-profit organization the Military Order of the Purple Heart Foundation Service Foundation donated $500,000 to assist with the construction.
The Department of Defense will operate the Fort Bragg Intrepid Spirit Center when construction is completed.
