A new program called the Transitional Workforce Educational Assistance Collaborative (TWEAC) is helping retired military personnel find work as they transition into civilian life.
The program was created by the Lowcountry Economic Alliance and the city of Beaufort, South Carolina. The goal is to help people leaving the military find job and training opportunities in order to keep them in the city. The program also hopes to create tailored training programs for companies.
Roughly 1,000 military personnel depart Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and Naval Hospital Beaufort — all based in Beaufort County — each year.
