SNEAK PEEK: SERBU BFG-50A

In the upcoming July 2013 issue of Tactical Weapons, author Jay Langston gets his hands on the new BFG-50A, a semi-auto .50-caliber rifle from Serbu Firearms. What makes it special? A few things, including its light 23-pound weight (about 4 pounds lighter than the Barrett M107) and Serbu Accuracy Chamber, which, as Langston notes, “allows shooters to fire standard surplus as well as match ammunition, and it will fire both ammo types more accurately than guns equipped with machine gun chambers.”

Field-stripping the Serbu BFG-50A takes seconds and is accomplished with nothing more than a bullet point. However, disassembly is not required for transporting the BFG-50A in its case. Its overall length is 52.5 inches, including the efficient eight-port Shark Brake muzzle brake, and it comes out of the case fully assembled and ready to go.

According to Langston, “The BFG-50A has achieved 0.5-MOA accuracy at 400 yards, a serious feat for any semi-automatic .50 BMG rifle.” But how accurate was it during his range session?
