California now gets to join the Smith & Wesson M&P9 party as the company releases California-compliant models. Available in M&P9 Shield Plus, M&P9 M2.0 Compact, and M&P9 M2.0 Full Size, the new models offer changes that adhere to the state’s strict firearm policies. This includes a 10-round magazine, magazine disconnect, manual thumb safety, and visual/tactile loaded round indicator.

The Smith & Wesson California-Compliant M&P9 Pistols

Two of the new California-compliant models stem from the M&P9 M2.0 polymer series. Meticulously crafted for personal, sporting, and professional use, the line includes an extended stainless-steel chassis. Likewise, the low bore axis is strategically designed to reduce muzzle rise and expedite target re-acquisition.

In addition, a fine-tuned trigger with audible and tactile reset, along with interchangeable palmswell inserts, help enhance accuracy. The M&P9 M2.0 California-compliant models include the Compact and Full Size.

Also offered in a California-compliant model is the M&P9 Shield Plus. The model is engineered with an 18-degree grip angle, providing a natural point of aim as well as assisting in recoil mitigation. Likewise, a flat-faced trigger ensures consistent finger placement. Additionally, the narrow profile offers an ideal balance between capacity and concealment, and the modified grip texture improves the purchase.

All three California-compliant models feature an elevated and colored loaded chamber indicator for tactile and visual observation. Likewise, all three models also include a manual thumb safety, with the M2.0 models providing ambidextrous operation. In accordance with California magazine requirements, each model ships with two 10-round 9mm magazines.

Finally, each model features a magazine disconnect mechanism, deactivating the trigger when the magazine is removed, preventing it from firing. This is in accordance with California State compliance.
