For many shooters, Magpul remains the first name in rifle components. From OEM parts on factory builds to a legion of DIY AR-15s, Magpul stocks make up a big chunk of the military, law enforcement and civilian shooter market. Now the company returns to its roots with the new Magpul DT Carbine Stock.
Magpul DT Carbine Stock Details
We got a first look at the new DT Carbine Stock at the most recent Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous. Simple and well executed, the affordable DT promises to jump on the shelf for shooters taking on their next AR build. The DT stands for the new “Dual Tension” mechanism built into the stock made for the AR-15/M16/M4 platform. According to Magpul, the new version delivers greater control, stability and strength.
The new DT system produces additional tension on the buffer tube without needing a secondary locking lever. It provides a tight lockup to minimize movement between the stock’s lock pin and receiver extension. A non-slip buttpad matches the footprint from Magpul’s SL line. Meanwhile, it mimics the curvature of the popular CTR. It matches up with the company’s CTR Cheek Risers if shooters want to go for that custom comb height. An ambidextrous lever, rotation-limiting QD sling mount and 1.25-inch footman’s loop round out the features.
The DT Carbine Stock retails for $64.95. For more info, visit magpul.com.

Editor’s Note:
We put some rounds downrange using the new DT Carbine Stock. It’s kind of hard to quantify how good a minimalist product like this can be. But trust us, if you’re a fan of Magpul’s take on the carbine, you’ll love what it has done with this new variant. Simply stated, it takes what lots of shooters prefer from the SL and CTR designs and blends into one clean, affordable alternative. It’s a great fit for any next carbine build.
