Blaser R8 Silence Barrel: Integrally Suppressed in Multiple Calibers

Blaser just announced the release of an integrally-suppressed barrel component to hit the U.S. market. The Blaser R8 Silence Barrel comes in multiple calibers, offering noise dampening and recoil control for the R8 platform of bolt-action rifles.

Blaser R8 Silence Barrel Hits U.S. Market

The R8 Silence Barrel, according to Blaser, offers exceptional balance. It utilizes a compact design, delivering 8-10 inches of overall length savings between the barrel and the R8 receiver construction. A titanium outer sleeve of the barrel and silencer jacket features a smooth bull barrel design. The system gives the lightweight R8 Silencer barrel an attractive, compact, sleek appearance.

Baffle design and geometry is at the heart of every silencer and directly affects recoil and noise reduction. The Blaser Integral Silencer (ISD) was optimized to the maximum diameter for maximum sound suppression and hearing protection while maintaining the overall aesthetics of the rifle itself.

Designed as a modular R8 option, Silence suppressed barrels will fit existing R8 rifles with properly relieved forearm or when used with the replacement Ultimate forend.

Blaser R8 Silence barrels in 308 Win, .30-06, and .300 Win Mag will be available first, with .223 Rem, .243 Rem, and 6.5 Creedmoor available in Q2 2025. For more information, see Blaser R8 Silence.

Editor’s Take:

All things suppressor continue all the rage in the firearms industry, with online systems making it easier than ever to get approvals. Companies like Silencer Central streamline the suppressor buying process even more. While no one wants to pay a tax stamp on what should be considered nothing more than a safety device, this remains the system we’re stuck with. In that light, an integrally suppressed barrel system built to fit a rifle already in production brings a nice twist we’d love to see more of. Ruger 10-22 shooters have long enjoyed the benefits. Let’s hope this catches on even more in the near future.
