In case you haven’t heard yet, California Congresswoman and Los Angeles Mayoral candidate Rep Karen Bass recently had two guns stolen during a break-in. I’m not sure if this is some kind of political stunt, but it’s not a good one if it is. The optics are not great for her anti-gun message, and I’m here for it.
Anti-Gun for You, Pro-Gun for Her Rep. Karen Bass Has Two Firearms Stolen
During a recent “robbery,” House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Karen Bass had two guns stolen. Ironically, this comes just months after Bass claimed that she felt “10 out of 10” safe walking in LA. Even more ironic, she said it during a debate with opponent Rick Caruso and then promised to crack down on crime.
But that’s for LA voters to sort out, we’re talking about a robbery here. One in which two firearms were stolen from an anti-gun candidate. Now that’s irony.
According to Fox News, Bass said in a statement, “Last night, I came home and discovered that my house had been broken into and burglarized. LAPD was called, and I appreciate their assistance. At this time, it appears that only two firearms, despite being safely and securely stored, were stolen. Cash, electronics and other valuables were not. It’s unnerving and, unfortunately, it’s something that far too many Angelenos have faced.”
So, this begs the question, if they were securely stored, how were they stolen? Not to mention the fact that the thieves didn’t take any other valuables. Just the guns. They should have been really hard to steal, comparatively. Why not snatch the easy stuff instead? Or at least grab it too.
Was she really burgled? Or did she just Jussie Smollett Los Angeles right before the midterms?
Rules for Thee, Not for Me
It also makes a person wonder what Bass was doing with two guns. During her time in the federal government, whenever the topic of gun control comes up, Bass votes against the Second Amendment and gun rights. Every. Single. Time.
The Los Angeles Times reports, “[Bass communications director, Sarah] Leonard Sheahan said the weapons were legally registered handguns and that Bass has never sought a permit to carry a gun.”
Combine the fact that she has never sought a permit to carry a gun with the fact that she wants to repeal stand-your-ground laws, and what do you have left? What is the point of her owning two firearms? And what kind of firearms were they? Why won’t she say? Were they “assault weapons”? We don’t know.
This statement from the New York Post might clear things up, “Bass reportedly learned how to handle weapons in the ’70s when she led the Venceremos Brigade, a group that stood in solidarity with Cuban revolutionaries. She was accused by the LAPD at the time of going to Cuba to ‘learn guerrilla warfare.’”
Oh, right. She’s a radical activist who has used guns in the past to get what she wants. Got it.
So, was this just a political stunt? Is this leading somewhere? I’m just waiting for her to propose legislation to confiscate all guns because “secure storage doesn’t work.”
Fortunately, the Los Angeles Police Department apprehended the suspects, and the firearms were returned. Unfortunately, they do not fit the stereotype Democrats like to scapegoat, so expect this story to be memory-holed in 3…2…1…
You Can Fix This Los Angeles
Just a reminder to the good people of Los Angeles, you have a chance to fix this in November. You already know what Democrat policies have done to your city. Be brave, try something new.
What’s the worst that could happen? You’ve already got spiraling crime, rampant homelessness, feces-ridden streets, and representatives who think they deserve to be able to protect themselves, but not you.
Remember, if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.
