Most shooters use optics on rifles, because they allow more accuracy. However, there are a lot of optics available for pistols, including the Aimpoint Acro P-1 pistol sight. Of course, this fully enclosed red dot can also be mounted on rifles, even though the company it designed for pistols. Shooters can even use it as a compact electronic backup sight.

Aimpoint built the Acro P-1 to withstand extreme conditions, both environmental and temperature. The company even tested these units to handle a minimum of 20,000 rounds of .40 S&W ammo. Since most shooters seldom seldom get anywhere close to this range count, this unit should last a long time for most people.
“The Acro P-1 creates a new standard for reflex optics for use on handguns,” said Lennart Ljungfelt, Aimpoint AB president. “This revolutionary sight provides the most rugged and reliable sighting solution for its size and applications currently available.”
To start, this red dot sight features a fully enclosed housing for durability. In fact, the Acro P-1 is currently the smallest enclosed red dot on the market. This unit measures 1.9-inches long and 1.2-inches wide and high. As such, it weights a mere 2.1 ounces, including the battery.
The unit also features a 3.5 MOA reticle, with adjustment switches than can be manipulated while wearing gloves. A single CR1225 battery powers the unit for over one year of continuous use, and shooters can replace the battery without removing it from the gun. So whether using it as a primary or a backup, it never loses true.
