A pair of alleged robbers had a bad night last Thursday in Cleveland, Ohio; grocery store employees sent them running with a few shots.

According to Cleveland.com, around 7 p.m., two men walked into Paul’s Serve Rite Food Market in the Central neighborhood. The men had hoods and scarves over their faces. Both the owner and an employee supposedly told the men to remove the hoods repeatedly. Instead, the pair pulled a gun and demanded money.

An employee working the cash register handed over the drawer, which reportedly contained about $80. However, that’s when the other employee, who happens to be 70 years old, realized what was happening and pulled his own handgun, for which he has a concealed carry permit. He started firing at the bad guys, which alerted the owner, who also drew and fired. Between the two, they fired five rounds at the robbers; the owner only fired once. The robbers took off when lead started flying, splitting up in different directions once outside.

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on the view, police didn’t find evidence that either robber was hit. Nor have police been able to identify either suspect. No arrests have been made, but police are still searching for the suspects.

Don’t Mess With Grocery Store Employees

This is a great example of why employees should be armed, particular those who regularly deal with the public. Sure, there is potential for problems, but those problems exist anyway. Employees with hate in their heart won’t care that they aren’t supposed to have a gun. In fact, knowing others are unarmed just might make them more likely to act, as this creates defenseless environment.

Now, both the owner and the employee should probably get to the range for a little training, as one of them should have hit the robbers. It would have made it easier to identify at least one, which typically leads to the other.

Additionally, this incident shows not to mess with old men. The 70-year-old drew his gun just as soon as he realized there was problem. Also, he has a vested interest in protecting the city from punks, as he has been identified as William Jackson, and just happens to be Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson’s brother.
