Beamshot BS8200S Tri Beam Laser: The BS8200S Tri Beam Laser sighting system emits three dots in a triangular pattern with the center of the three dots being the point of impact. According to Beamshot, this pattern allows the eye to locate the threat’s center-mass much quicker for rapid targeting in close quarters.
Beamshot X1-G: The X1-G green laser is lightweight and compact so it only takes up a little space on your AR’s rail. The laser has four modes: constant on, 2 Hz, 4 Hz or 8Hz pulse. You can adjust the laser in 0.5-inch increments at 25 yards. The unit is powered by two AAAA batteries that provide about 1.5 hours of run time.
CenterPoint Compact Red Laser: The economical Compact Red Laser features a pressure switch and cord as well as a mount that allows it to be attached to any Picatinny/Weaver-style rail. The laser can be seen out to 100 yards at night and up to 25 yards in daylight.
CenterPoint Laser Flashlight Kit: Combining a light and user, the Laser Flashlight Kit is designed so the light can find your target and the laser will help you zero in on it. Both the light and laser feature independent pressure switches. The flashlight illuminates out to 30 yards.
Crimson Trace CMR-205 Rail Master Pro: Super small and lightweight, the CMR-205 Rail Master Pro combines a red laser and light in one compact unit. Housed in tough polymer, the unit is lightweight and offers four operational modes: constant laser/light, constant laser, constant light or strobing laser/light. It will fit on any Picatinny or Weaver-style rail.
Crimson Trace LiNQ: The LiNQ system uses wireless technology to allow an AR-15-style pistol grip to control a rail-mounted light/laser module. Ambidextrous buttons on the pistol grip allow the user to operate the laser/light module in three on modes—light and laser together, laser only or light only—with just their strong hand.
LaserLyte Lyte Ryder Center Mass: The Lyte Ryder Center Mass laser sight is designed for ease of use. As a shooter grips their rifle’s rail, the unit is activated. The touchpad is 2.3 inches long, so even a sloppy grip will activate the unit, which projects nine lasers—a circle of eight dots surrounding one in the middle—onto the target.
LaserMax Manta-Ray: The snap-on Manta-Ray tactical light does not require tools to be attached to an AR’s rail. This is a rechargeable light that sends out 140 lumens of mint green light using LED technology. In close quarters, the mint green light does not reflect like higher-output white lights so a shooter’s vision is not compromised.
LaserMax UNI-IR-RVP: The UNI-IR-RVP unit is one of the smallest and lightest infrared lasers available. Its footprint only takes up 1.75 inches of rail space, and it’ll run for six hours on two 357 silver-oxide batteries. The UNI-IR-RVP quickly mounts to any Weaver- or Picatinny-style rail.
MFT Torch Backup Light Series: Extremely compact and super light weight, the Torch Backup Light series from Mission First Tactical (MFT) offers three models that feature 20-lumen lights while weighing about 0.8 ounces and measuring 2.2 inches long. The TBLW features a white light, the TBLWR features white and red lights, and the TBLWR features red and IR lights. They each use one CR2016 battery and are designed for low-profile mounting to any Picatinny rail.
NcSTAR Blue Laser With Quick-Release Mount: As its name implies, NcSTAR’s Blue Laser with Quick-Release Mount features a blue laser that offers a level of brightness between red and green lasers. The unit also features a built-in mount that fits any Picatinny/Weaver-style rails, and it’ll run for about 30 hours on one CR123A battery.
NcSTAR Green Laser & 4-Color NAV LED: The Green Laser & 4-Color NAV LED designator combines a fully adjustable 5mW green laser with LED NAV lights in four colors: white, red, green and blue. The low-power LED NAV light is good for maneuvering when using night-vision gear as well as supplementing brighter tactical lights. The designator runs on a one CR123A battery, and a remote pressure switch is included.
NcSTAR KeyMod Flashlight 3W 200L: The KeyMod Flashlight 3W 200L is designed to mount using KeyMod slots. No tools are required. The unit offers a 3-watt LED with a 200-lumen output. The rear button can be partially pressed for momentary flashlight use or fully pressed to turn flashlight on/off.
Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1: Offering 350 lumens, the ProTac Rail Mount 1 features a dedicated fixed mount for Picatinny-style rails. The flashlight is activated by either a remote switch with momentary/constant-on operation or a standard push-button tail switch.
Streamlight TLR-4 G: The TLR-4 G combines a 115-lumen LED tactical light with a 510-530nm direct-drive green laser. A three-position switch allows a user to run the unit in three different modes: LED only, LED and laser, or laser only. Depending on the mode, the CR2 lithium battery will last between 1.25 and 4 hours. Housed in impact-resistant polymer, the TLR-4 G offers quick, one-hand mounting to rails.
Sun Optics CLF-CLG Illuminated Laser Light: The Illuminated Laser Light CLF-CLG features a clear, 750-lumen LED light and a green laser. The unit uses a quick-detach mounting system and comes with a pressure switch cord.
Sun Optics CLF-CLSG Compact Laser/Light: The CLF-CLSG Compact Laser/Light combines a 750-lumen LED light and a 5mW green laser to pinpoint a target. A three-position activation switch allows you to use only the light, the light and laser, or only the laser. The built-in mount is compatible with most rails systems.
SureFire M600V AA IR Scout Light: The M600V AA IR Scout Light features a high-output, 250-lumen LED beam or 100 milliwatts of non-visible infrared output for use with night-vision devices. This unit is ideal for close- to medium-range applications and is powered by either lithium or alkaline AA batteries with a run time of 1.5 hours with the tactical light and six hours with the IR.
UTG New-Gen 400-Lumen Grip Light: Combining a flashlight and vertical foregrip, the UTG New-Gen 400 Lumen Grip Light offers a 400-lumen light seamlessly integrated into an aluminum grip that can withstand harsh recoil. An integral Picatinny mount with a quick-attach lock ensures the grip is easy to mount and stays in place.
Viridian X5L-RS: The X5L-RS features a rotary selector dial that offers multiple light and green laser modes. A two-button pressure pad operates the unit. The light offers a 160-lumen output, and the green laser is visible to 100 yards in daylight and up to 2 miles at night. The unit is completely adjustable and runs on one CR123 battery. With a 6061-T6 aluminum housing, the unit weighs slightly over 3 ounces with the battery installed.
Illumination is critical in a defensive or CQB scenario. Target identificationis necessary in a low- or no-light situation, and there are a variety of AR lights and lasers that can help you gain the upper hand in darkness. Picatinny-style rails as well as KeyMod and M-LOK handguards on ARs allow users to mount a tactical light or laser to make fighting in the dark an asset rather than a liability. Here are some great AR lights and lasers that are currently on the market.
