American Gunsmithing Institute (AGI) — a California-based company renowned for their vast range of gunsmithing DVD courses — is now offering gunsmiths and students the chance to attend the Design, Function and Repair: Ruger 10/22 and Auto Pistols class with Master Gunsmith Ken Brooks. The course will take place July 21-25. It is available only to current AGI Professional Gunsmithing students. Successful completion of the Handgun OR Rifle section of the course is required prior to registration.
As the press release notes, the course consists of approximately 15 hours of lecture and 25 hours of hands-on time. Students will be taught all phases of repair of the Ruger 10/22 and .22 auto pistols, with Brooks also covering the function and reliability of the gun, including the trigger job.
Students must bring a Ruger 10/22 and .22 auto pistol, a hammer, a set of punches, screwdrivers, stones, lubricant, needle files, at least one mill or mill bastard file 6″ long or longer and sharp, and a set of allen wrenches. The firearm any student brings to the course “should function with 100% reliability when finished and have a crisp trigger let off with no hammer follow down,” the press release states.
