TexanSS: AirForce Airguns Debuts Suppressed Air Rifle at SHOT Show

There’s a ton of new products getting introduced at SHOT Show 2017 in Las Vegas, and one of the ones we’re excited about is the TexanSS Air Rifle in .45 caliber by AirForce Airguns.

Essentially a quieter version of the AirForce Texan, which was first introduced at the 2015 SHOT Show, the AirForce TexanSS features a precision rifled 24.75 inch barrel that will push a lead projectile to deliver up to 400 foot pounds – quietly.

“Within an hour of finishing the original Texan, we were at work on the sound suppressed version,” commented AirForce CEO and Founder John McCaslin. “We wanted to minimize sound while retaining as much of the Texan’s power as we could. This air rifle strikes that balance perfectly.”

The rifle has an overall length of 45 inches and features the patented side lever action for easy loading and cocking, the press release says.

“Every time we design a new gun or a new version of an existing rifle, we ask how we can make it better,” McCaslin said. “With TexanSS, we found a way to combine the power, reliability and usability in the field that we would expect from any good hunting rifle. Minus the sound.”
