The 1911 world is one of details and patience. These high-end classics do not do well in mass production, and quality takes time. Enter Alchemy Custom Weaponry. ACW was Founded by Master Gunsmith Rob Schauland in 2011 as a classic custom 1911 shop that would perform traditional upgrades to other manufacturers’ guns at customers’ request. In 2016, Cabot Guns entered the picture and worked with Mr. Schauland. The product of this venture is a variety of exceptional 1911’s. One of my favorites is the Alchemy Custom Weaponry Quantico Carry.

Like its big brother, the Quantico Carry is inspired by the high-speed 1911s of the 90s, but this time in a slightly smaller package. Alchemy took the design of the 5″ Quantico and shortened the barrel by 3/4 of an inch to make it a bit easier to conceal. Like its full-size sibling, it has some great features. These include a square ejection port, a non-scalloped frame, a universal rail, and an ambi safety. It also has an extended ledge slide stop and a flat trigger. It is wrapped up with a Stan Chen extended magwell, tritium front sight, double diamond G10 grips, and black coated or bare stainless barrel standard.

The bead blast blue finish of Quantico Carry is entirely unique in the 1911 market. The Alchemy Custom Weaponry Quantico Carry retains as much of the John Browning style as possible. However, Alchemy doesn’t think JMB would mind if you chose the hard chrome or DLC finish options. Ultimately, the Quantico Carry is an equal parts art and fighting tool.
