Some things just go together perfectly — hunting and 6.5 Creedmoor; Taco Bell and Pizza Hut; We Like Shooting and Alex Landeen.

Last week, Alex — who has photographed almost every Ballistic Magazine cover since 2017 — joined the WLS crew for what amounted to a perfect episode. How did we determine that? Anytime someone utters the phrase “Why do you have shart wipes?”, you know it was a good episode.
The cast for episode No. 275 includes Shawn Herrin, Aaron Krieger, Savage1r, Jeremy Pozderac and Nick Lynch.
Our Pal Alex Landeen
The episode starts with some talk about Alex’s now somewhat famous mustache. It’s impossible not to talk about it when you see him. They followed that up with how he got into the firearms industry and photography — specifically all of the work he does for us.
Then the boys talk about Alex’s firearm preferences. He’s a handgun guy at heart. He’s had a Para Ordnance LTC Commander for about 11 years. Not a common choice, but it’s his go-to handgun. It’s interesting listening to why he went with it.
As for his rifle? That’s even more interesting. Alex recently stopped by the Savage Arms factory for an upcoming article and got to build a rifle from scratch. What did he go for?
“Everybody picked stuff like 6.5 Creedmoor and all this other stuff, and I was like, ‘F*ck that. Give me a scout rifle in .450 Bushmaster,'” Alex said. “And they were like, ‘Yeah. Yeah, that sounds good.'”
Why did Alex go for that combo?
“I don’t know why, I just thought it sounded cool,” he said. “I took a class with it and ran a bunch of rounds down range through it. And it was fun because it was different.”
Quite frankly, we’re all for it. We like different.
