The upcoming course will be led by Jeff Cotto of BAT Defense. Cotto is a former U.S. Army Ranger with multiple combat deployments in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has held many positions with proven success as a Special Operations Squad Leader, Sniper Team and Section Leader, and Fire Team Leader. Cotto has planned and conducted over 200 sniper missions including aerial, route, and tactical operations. He is currently a U.S. Government Personnel Protection Specialist responsible for providing clandestine services throughout the world.
“We want area youth to know that a firearm is not a toy,” says Shirley Watral, General Manager of ALTAIR Gun Club. “Our goal is to have our young citizens know what to do in case they are in the presence of a gun, know the proper safety rules and how to stay safe. Too many accidents happen that could be prevented.”
A course registration fee of $125 per child applies. The Junior Shooting Program is open to the public for children ages 7 to 16, however space is limited.
