Mike Seeklander, defensive handgun expert, will be a special guest instructor at ALTAIR Gun Club on Saturday and Sunday, February 13-14, 2016. The course will be held 9am – 4pm both days at ALTAIR’s Deep Lake Facility located at 20201 State Road 29 South in Copeland, Florida.
This course is a piece of Mike Seeklander’s total training system that reinforces the techniques covered in his book, Your Defensive Handgun Training Program. The full training system is like nothing else available today, focusing on proper training and execution of skills to subsequently improve each student’s results. The Defensive Handgun Level 1 course will include a downloadable version of the training drills and videos for participants to continue their training after completing the class.

Students will also receive thorough self-defense content and training throughout the program, defining the distance related concepts of a fight with a handgun. This course is ideal for anyone who carries a handgun for self-defense purposes, and will benefit both beginners and experienced shooters alike. The level 1 class will serve as a pre-requisite course for those wishing to take other shooting performance advanced handgun courses.
Mike Seeklander is a nationally ranked competitor in the practical handgun competition circuit, federally certified instructor, and curriculum developer with extensive experience teaching firearms, combative and control tactics. Seeklander is a combat veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, with five years of active duty and four years of reserve duty in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Intelligence Specialist and Primary Marksmanship Instructor. In his career, he has served as the President, C.O.O., and the Director of Training at the United States Shooting Academy; Senior Instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston, S.C.; Branch Chief and Lead Instructor for the Federal Air Marshal firearms division; Tactical and Physical Training Instructor at the Federal Air Marshal training center in Atlantic City, N.J. and has been credentialed as a Federal Air Marshal.

Seeklander is the recipient of numerous awards and honors in the law enforcement and semi-professional shooting communities. He has authored more than 20 lesson plans specifically related to basic and advanced firearms training and has developed training curriculum for numerous federal agencies. Seeklander is a published author with two books and one DVD on the market, and a third book to be released soon.
A course registration fee of $395 per person applies plus a range fee of $35 per day. The training program is open to the public who possess a minimum firearms skill level.
