If you’re serious about shooting, then you know about the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. Established by Congress, the AMU pulls the best and brightest from all across the country. And after spending some time training on Fort Benning, their teams usually dominate the competition, in nearly every shooting discipline. We know they’re the best in the world. But this AMU trick shot we found still impresses.
AMU Trick Shot Hits Apple, Backwards
The trick shot features Reserve 1st Lt. Sarah Beard. The Danville, Ind., native competes in the USAMU International Rifle Team. She’s also part of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program. In short, she’s got game.
Beard takes a page straight out of the classics, doing her best Annie Oakley. The soldier places her rifle on her shoulder, then uses a handheld mirror to sight in on the target. Footage shows her sight in, breathe, and break the shot. Impressively, the apple explodes from her perfectly placed bullet.
Beard is currently shooting for a spot on Team USA in Smallbore, for the upcoming Olympic Trials. If that trick shot is any indication, Lt. Beard will likely find herself in the X-ring. Good luck, and go for the gold Lieutenant! For more information on the U.S. AMU, visit goarmy.com.
