Defender Vs Debunked: Ankaka 6-in-1 Tactical Pen

Whether it be signing an important document or jotting down a genius idea onto a sticky note, it is crucial to acknowledge that pens are a useful item everyone can benefit from owning. Not only do these writing instruments help people communicate, but under the right circumstances, they can also function as a self-defense tool. These devices are known as tactical pens and are specifically made to be durable, discreet and multifunctional. Let us take a look at a 6-in-1 tactical pen by the brand Ankaka and find out if these types of pens can protect you and if they are even worth owning in the first place.

Ankaka 6-in-1 Tactical Pen Details

Unlike traditional writing instruments that have ink dispensed out of the tip of a pen, a tactical pen will typically have a sharp, pointed peak located in this area instead. This location is used to strike or stab at an attacker and help you get away and to a safe location. As soon as I pulled the writing tool out of the packaging, I evaluated the defense tip on the palm of my hand and was surprised at how piercing it felt against my skin.

The small bit of pressure I applied was more than enough to tell me that if an individual put enough force behind striking an assailant, the tip of this tool would cause some nasty damage and injuries. Furthermore, the threaded design on the handle of this tool helps maintain a firm grip. When using these devices, the best areas to aim at would be a person’s hands, face, eyes and throat. Additionally, defense tips on many tactical pens can be used to break glass.

Flashlight

The next feature this tactical pen provided that I thought made a great addition to its usefulness is a flashlight. On the Ankaka 6-in-1 pen, the flashlight was located right above the pen clip and came with two modes that an individual could choose from. A simple press of the golden button, located right above the clip, will turn the light on while a second push will activate the strobe effect. Besides being used to help navigate your surroundings, the bright light on this tool can be used for defense purposes by shining the light in your attacker’s eye and momentarily stunning them. Moreover, the Ankaka tactical pen includes two sets of batteries, which I found to be a nice added touch.

Ballpoint

One of the most popular types of pens is a ballpoint pen. These writing instruments are known for containing thicker ink, which makes it easier to control as you are writing. Plus, the ink used in ballpoint pens are typically made out of oil, meaning that these types of pens dry faster. On this tactical pen, you can find the ballpoint located within the barrel of the pen. Overall, the ballpoint was smooth to write with, and more importantly, did not smear as I was writing. Plus, the kit even included five replacement ink cartridges.

Multi-Tool

The last feature this tactical pen offers is a multi-tool which can be accessed by unscrewing the self-defense tip and flipping it over to reveal a bottle opener, screw driver and hexagonal wrench. These three tools were a great addition to include, especially the bottle opener. While I would not rely on the screwdriver and hexagonal wrench as my primary tools, I would have no issue using both items if I were in a pinch and had nothing else around me.

Final Thoughts

The day I found the Ankaka 6-in-1 Tactical Pen, I could not help but laugh at the idea of it. At first glance, I assumed it was a pointless item to own and something that would just end up in the back of a junk drawer, never to see the light of day again. It was not until I was unwrapping the packaging and examining the tool in my hands that my opinion of, “This product is stupid,” quickly turned into, “This pen is actually kind of cool.”

It is sturdy in design, well made, discreet and has enough built-in features that just about anyone can benefit from using this writing tool. Tactical pens are great to toss into your bag, keep at your desk or clip onto your shirt pocket until you decide you need to use them. While I would not rely on this pen to be my primary protection tool, this product definitely has the capabilities to defend you and is an item that is absolutely worth owning.
