An armed convenience store clerk in Houston, Texas, used his gun to shoot a would-be robber.

According to Click2Houston, Kiran Giri was working behind the counter at the Almeda Discount Food Store — where he has worked for the past 14 years — when an armed robber approached with his gun drawn.

“As soon as he walked in, he just pointed the gun at my face (and said), ‘Give me the money, give me the money, give me the money,'” said Giri. “(It was) like you’re watching a movie.”

Fortunately, Giri obtained his Texas concealed handgun license 18 months ago and began carrying a pistol to work every day.

“You got to be prepared, you never know when you’re behind the counter,” said Giri.

Giri immediately pulled his gun from the holster and fired once, hitting the suspect in the neck.

As Click2Houston reports, the suspect was rushed to an area hospital and is in critical condition.

“When I saw the gun I felt like I was going to die. For my safety I had to pull my trigger,” Giri said.
