Ashbury’s Saber M700 Rifle: AR Functionality, Remington DNA

Ashbury Precision Ordnance (APO)’s line of bolt-action rifles is growing yet again with the release of its new Saber M700 precision rifle, which mates APO’s Saber MRCS-AR rifle chassis with Remington‘s Model 700 barreled actions.

According to the press release, initial shipments of the Saber M700 feature Remington’s Model 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD barreled action and X-Mark Pro trigger—factory set to 3 ½ pounds—and are chambered in both .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor. The barrels are hammer forged, with the .308 using a 20-inch, 1:10 twist barrel and the 6.5 Creedmoor sporting a 22-inch, 1:8 twist barrel. Both models have 5/8-24 threaded muzzles with protective caps, ready for a muzzle brake or suppressor.

APO’s Saber MRCS-AR chassis, which doesn’t require epoxy bedding, features a Magpul CTR shoulder stock and ¾ inch cheek riser. The shoulder stock is mounted on a six position, Mil-Spec carbine buffer tube, making it both telescoping and foldable with a double locking hinge. The AR-08 octagonal aluminum handguard, meanwhile, features Magpul’s M-LOK attachment system, as well as a forward mounted bipod stud. The MOE handgrip is adjustable for distance and hand grip angle.

The Saber MRCS-AR chassis sports a Mil-Spec 8625 black hard coat anodized finish, while the Remington Model 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD barreled action is finished with a black phosphate coating.

“This solidly performing, rugged, range-ready rifle is easily configured and accessorized to meet the many needs of recreational shooters, hunters and entry level precision rifle competitors,” APO’s product development coordinator Matthew Peterson said.

The Saber M700 weighs in at 9.5 pounds in the base version and folds to 29 ¾”, making it ideal for ATV racks, backpack carry or truck storage, APO says. It ships with one Magpul PMAG 5 7.62 AC detachable box magazine.

Available exclusively at Cabela’s, the suggested retail price for Saber M700 precision rifle is $1,799.
