Bear Creek Arsenal is answering the popularity of its GENES1S model with continued upgrades. Earlier this year, the Glock Gen-3 compatible pistol received ergonomic upgrades with the GENES1S II (below). And now, the company has added new barrel options to further enhance the aesthetics.

New Barrel Options for the GENES1S II from Bear Creek Arsenal

Already providing an aesthetically pleasing design, the GENES1S II featured window cuts in the black nitride slide. However, housing a plain black nitride 4150 Chrome Moly barrel, the window cuts offered little to look at. But this is something the company has now rectified, by providing more barrel options to take advantage of the view.

Five new barrels are available, including the Bearclaw Fluted, Gold Titanium, Copper Titanium, and Spiral Fluted. The 5-inch barrels are chambered in 9mm, and each has a 1:16 twist rate. Additionally, the Gold and Copper Titanium versions feature a 1/2×28 threaded muzzle for a suppressor or other muzzle device.

With the exception of the Bearclaw fluted barrel, which is 416R stainless steel, the rest are constructed of 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium. Likewise, the Bearclaw and Spiral fluted barrels feature a black nitride finish, while the others include a Gold or Copper Titanium nitride finish.

Although the two fluted versions remain the same price, at $499.99, the Titanium Nitride versions run $25.00 more at $524.99.

Last year Bear Creek Arsenal released its first full-size handgun with the Glock Gen-3 compatible GENES1S (below). Since that time, the company has listened to its customers and upgraded the platform to the GENES1S II. The latest model promises better ergonomics and a lower price than the original.

Bear Creek Arsenal Releases the Upgraded GENES1S II

Like the original, the second version features a 7075 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum construction. However, the newest model’s two-piece frame has rounded edges, providing a more ergonomic feel in the hand. Likewise, the stippled grip has a more comfortable design and provides an assertive grip.

The GENES1S II maintains the wide, squared trigger guard and trigger blade safety for increased safety. A flared magwell couples with the proprietary ambidextrous mag release for fast reloads. Additionally, a three-slot Picatinny rail allows for quick light or laser attachment.

At 28-ounces (unloaded), the GENES1S II offers a weight comfortable for concealed carry while reducing recoil and promoting fast target acquisition. The black nitride slide features window cuts to reduce weight and produce less recoil and corresponding muzzle flip. In addition, front and rear cocking serrations enhance slide manipulation, wet or dry.

The slide hosts metal sights with photoluminescent aiming dots for low-light shooting. However, an optic cut with an RMR footprint allows for the installation of red dot optics as well.

Housed within the slide is the black nitride 4150 Chrome Moly barrel, chambered in 9mm, with 1/2×28 thread pitch for installing a suppressor or other muzzle device. Correspondingly, a thread cap comes installed to protect the threads when a muzzle device is not in place.

The GENES1S II is compatible with a wide array of aftermarket Glock Gen-3 parts and accessories. Additionally, each pistol includes two 17-round magazines.

Bear Creek Arsenal enters the full-size handgun market with the all-metal GENES1S. With the Glock 19 clone market in full swing, Bear Creek Arsenal said, “watch this.” And did it in true Bear Creek fashion. As a result, the GENES1S is also fully compatible with aftermarket Glock Gen-3 parts and holsters.

The Bear Creek Arsenal GENES1S

Made entirely in-house in the BCS North Carolina factory, the GENES1S features a 7075 T6 Aluminum construction. This gives it a durable build that weighs a lightweight 27 ounces empty.

The lower is designed for an ergonomic and comfortable feel in the hand. Likewise, the grip features aggressive stippling on the sides and a smooth front and back strap. On either side of the grip is the proprietary ambidextrous mag release. Correspondingly, the flared magwell facilitates faster reloads for enhanced defensive capabilities.

Additionally, the wider, squared trigger guard houses the safety blade trigger for increased safety. Just forward of the trigger guard is a three-slot Picatinny rail for attaching lights or other accessories.

Riding atop the frame is the cerakoted Flat Dark Earth slide with front and rear cocking serrations. The slide also features window cuts to reduce weight and showcase the spiral fluted barrel. In addition, the 4.5-inch 416R stainless steel barrel, chambered in 9mm, allows for tight groups and longer barrel life. The barrel also comes suppressor ready with standard threads and a protective cap.

Metal photoluminescent iron sights enhance target acquisition in low light conditions. However, if you prefer an optic, the GENES1S includes a slide cut compatible with the RMR footprint.

The GENES1S comes with two KCI 9mm 17-round magazines, selected for their durability and performance. And, as I mentioned above, it is completely compatible with aftermarket Glock Gen-3 parts and accessories. So, you can dial in the experience exactly how you want it.
