A total of 15 models in Black Rain Ordnance line of AR-10 and AR-15 rifles have gone through some alterations that now make them compliant with California state law.
The new “California Compliant” line has added a 10-round, low-capacity approved magazine and a bullet button. All other features on the new line of rifles adhere to the standard features found on all AR-10s and AR-15s from Black Rain Ordnance.
The 10-round magazine limits the rifles from being considered “large capacity” by California law, which currently states:
It is unlawful for any person to manufacture, cause to be manufactured, keep for sale, or offer or expose for sale, or give or lend, any large-capacity magazine. A large capacity magazine means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include a feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds, a tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm, or a .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
The bullet button is a product that allows the shooter to drop a magazine with the use of a tool. It prevents finger manipulation of the magazine release and creates a condition allowable under current individual interpretations of California law.
