On April 7, 2007, Bobby Henline’s life changed forever.

Henline was deployed with the 82nd Airborne Division and 3rd Armored Calvary regiment when his Humvee was his by a roadside bomb.

Of the five passengers in the Humvee, four died in the attack, while Henline was the lone survivor, according to BobbyHenline.com.

More than 38 percent of his body was burned and his head was burned to the skull; he spent six months in the hospital fighting for his life, and within two years Bobby’s left hand had to be amputated. To date he has had over 40 surgeries.

Henline now spends his time as a motivational speaker and stand-up comedian.

Recently, TIME Magazine shot a nine-minute video entitled “Healing Bobby” (above) about Henline and his current mission.

“Life has its obstacles. But more on a deeper, personal level for more, being this whole ‘survivor,’ that’s the best revenge I could ever get on the guy who did this to me,” Henline said in the short video. “If I can help more people than that guy’s ever hurt, that’s one of the positive things I think about.”
