The Bond Arms Stubby Review

Bond Arms has been making a lot of moves lately, with many new offerings like the new Stubby. The Stubby follows on the heels of the Cyclops .45-70 and the Rowdy XL. Not to mention, the company has been teasing a coming release of a lever action AR-15 platform. It is clear that the company is moving and shaking, and that translates to something for everyone.

The Bond Arms Stubby

The Stubby takes the great features of the Stinger and condenses it into Bond Arm’s smallest, most concealable pistol yet. In essence, the derringer company took a hack saw to the Stinger, only not quite as brute as that.

The Stubby builds on a modified steel Stinger frame, minus the trigger guard. Although everything about it is basically the same, the trigger guard has been cut off to expose the trigger. Likewise, its removal also helps make the form factor smaller for easier concealment. However, the grip itself is the same standard size grip as the Stinger, providing enhanced control. Thin nylon grip panels help with retention while keeping the slim profile for easier concealed carry.

The single-action pistol features retracting firing pins and a patented rebounding hammer. In addition, the Stubby has a trigger with a seven-pound pull and provides two rounds in your choice of .22 LR, .380, or 9mm. The 2.2-inch stainless steel barrel with a matte finish is the shortest barrel to come from the company. Designated a very close-range firearm, the Stubby does have a nub front sight. But be aware, it will cause a higher point of aim at distance.

A cross bolt safety provides safe handling of the Stubby until you are ready to shoot. As a result, you can safely carry it in your pocket or a holster. Unlike most Bond Arms pistols, the Stubby is not compatible with other Bond Arms barrels. However, a company representative says that they will potentially release other compatible barrels in the future.
