The Brownells Retro Rifle lineup is, at its very core, fun. There’s something to be said for having a piece of history in an updated package. Brownells’ latest addition to its Retro series — the aptly named BRN-PROTO — may be its most alluring offering yet.

The concept behind the BRN-PROTO is simple (as intended): Recreate Eugene Stoner’s very first AR-15 prototype. The first thing shooters might notice is the “distinctive trigger-like charging handle on top of the receiver, under the carry handle.” Yes, under the carry handle, like early AR-10 models. As Brownells points out, it’s important to remember the AR-15 was developed “second.”
There are a handful of other features that make the PROTO worthy of checking out. Watch the video above to learn more about Brownells’ new offering. For more information, please visit Brownells.com.
