The New Buck Knives HiLine is an Affordable EDC Pocket Cleaver Design

The cleaver style of knife has seen a rise in popularity over the past couple years. Let’s face it, it’s not only a cool design, but it follows the sheepsfoot and Wharncliffe design cues. As a result, they make a great utility knife, because the tip profile creates a force multiplier. With that said, the new Buck Knives HiLine adds sleek styling to the utilitarian profile.

The Buck Knives HiLine EDC Knife

The HiLine builds on an anodized aluminum handle on the front side, and stainless-steel frame on the obverse. Adding to the overall look and grip retention are contoured G-10 onlays, running down the middle of the grip. The hardware and backspacer all feature an antique bronze finish, for an additional artful pop.

With an overall length of 7.50 inches, the HiLine is a solid EDC option that can handle many varying tasks. The 3.25-inch blade is constructed of .140-inch thick D2 Tool Steel. Although the stock is a little thick, the hollow grind keeps the weight down and the edge keen.

At the tip is a cleaver hole, aiding in the cleaver styling, with a trailing partial fuller. The additional finger choil helps choke up on the HiLine, for finer work. Also, sitting atop the blade, just above the finger choil is some light jimping for retention. Furthermore, a ball bearing pivot brings the HiLine’s blade to full lockup, via the solid frame lock.

With a closed length of 4.375 inches and weight of 3.9 ounces, the HiLine doesn’t present an overbearing footprint in the pocket. It carries in the pocket via a deep carry, stainless steel pocket clip, configured for right-hand tip up carry only.
