Activision’s newly released “Call of Duty WW2” features a robust single-player campaign that allows the player to fight across Europe as a member of the infamous 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One). However, as with most shooters, you may come for the single player but you stay for the multiplayer gaming. This is where the game really shines.

One of the things that World War II the perfect setting for multiplayer gameplay are the weapons and equipment. No war in history offered such a true balance. While the Germans may have had the first true “assault rifle” with the StG44 (MP44), the American M1 Garand had been called “The greatest battle implement ever devised” by General George Patton.

“Call of Duty WW2” features divisions that provide players with skills and weapons training as opposed to the typical class system. This allows for more customization with weapons, where infantry can engage in mid- to long-range combat and utilize melee weapons; while armored can mount heavy machine guns as just two examples.

These include Soviet weapons such as the SVT-40 semi-automatic rifle and the “combat shotgun.” All of this is just to ensure that the in-game arsenal is fully stocked and offers plenty of variation. It may not be historical, but it is certainly about as complete for guns of the era as a game can get.
