FIRST LOOK: The .357 Magnum Chiappa Nebula Rhino Revolver

The Chiappa Rhino and its many variations — as well as unique design and ergonomics — are favorites in the revolver community. Chiappa’s latest Rhino entry made a vibrant splash at SHOT Show 2019 and for good reason. The all-new Chiappa Nebula Rhino is certainly the most “colorful” entry yet.

Out of This World Finish

The first thing we noticed with the Chiappa Nebula Rhino Revolver is its finish, which is impossible to miss. The revolver features a mixed-color PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) finish that offers more resistance to corrosion and blemishes. Chiappa’s new finish covers all outer metal surfaces. The manufacturer included a blue laminate grip that pairs perfectly with the predominantly purple and blue tones of the new “Nebula” finish.

Chiappa new revolver is available in a SAO (Single-action only) variant, as well as in a DS (Double/Single action) variant with an external cocking lever and cocked hammer indicator. The Nebula is available in .357 Magnum only, but is compatible with .38 Special ammunition. Three moon clips come with each revolver for easier and quick reload.

The Nebula features a fixed front sight and an adjustable rear sight with fiber optic inserts for quick alignment and high visibility. The barrel shroud sports a machined bottom Picatinny rail for tactical accessories and a top rail segment for reflex sights.

Like other Rhino variants, the Nebula features the alignment of the barrel to the lowest chamber; this keeps the bore axis in line with the shooter’s hand to achieve a better control over felt recoil and muzzle climb. As with all Rhino revolvers, the Nebula features a precision-built steel barrel and octagonal cylinder, and a CNC-machined aircraft-grade alloy steel frame and barrel shroud. The use of state-of-the-art CNC technologies ensures tight tolerances and a perfect fit.
