Overcoming a survival situation means being able to take advantage of what’s available in your environment and using it to your advantage, and the Chiappa X-Caliber weapon system will help you do just that. Billed as the “ultimate survival rifle,” this break-open, over/under design is configured to fire 12-gauge shells and .22 LR ammo. However, with the addition of the eight steel barrel adapters, the X-Caliber can fire up to 12 different calibers of ammunition.

The X-Caliber’s minimalistic design and 5.8-pound weight mean it won’t slow you down during bug-out. The rifle’s matte black stock consists of a steel frame and polypropylene foam, and it also features slots to hold extra ammunition as well as a cleaning kit. Chiappa has outfitted the rifle with an adjustable rear and fiber-optic front sight. Dual triggers are used to fire from their respective barrels in this single-shot, over/under design. Three Picatinny rails allow for the attachment of optics or other accessories.

With the addition of the X-Caliber adapters, the Chiappa rifle is able to fire eight additional pistol calibers—.380 ACP, 9mm, .357 Mag/.38 Special, .40 S&W, .44 Mag, .45 ACP, .45 Colt—as well as two additional shotgun gauges—.410 and 20 gauge. This makes it one of the most versatile weapon platforms when ammo selection dwindles in the aftermath of a disaster.
