Clearwater Florida Woman Shoots and Kills Home Intruder in Her Bedroom

Reality keeps crashing the narrative as the anti-gun lobby continues its cry that guns aren’t used in self-defense. For example, here is yet another recent example of guns saving lives. A Clearwater Florida woman shoots and kills a home intruder after she wakes up to find him in her bedroom.

The woman awoke early Tuesday morning to find the man, who turns out to be her neighbor, in her bedroom. Immediately after waking up the man began attacking her, but she was able to reach her phone and call 911.

Unfortunately, the frantic call to 911 did not deter the attacker and he persisted. So, the woman retrieved her lawfully owned pistol and shot and killed the man in self-defense. According to reports, the intruder died at the scene in the 1600 block of Flagler Drive.

According to the New York Post, “Clearwater police are still investigating the incident but have classified it as a case of self-defense at this stage.”

Likewise, CPD Police Chief Daniel Slaughter said the woman had injuries that were consistent with a self-defense situation.

In a news conference, he stated, “We’re going to avoid talking about too many of the details, but I can tell you she was asleep in the residence. She was attacked. She does have injuries that are consistent with that attack.”

The New York Post article goes on to state, “Police Chief Dan Slaughter said at a news conference that the homeowner had recently moved into the house but he did not know how well they knew each other.”

ABC Action News Tampa Bay reports, “When asked how the victim was doing emotionally, Slaughter said, ‘good people don’t want to have to do this kind of thing to protect themselves so she’s upset.’”

We agree, no one wants to be placed in this kind of situation. It would be upsetting. However, men and women are facing this reality every day. And if this woman hadn’t had the right to keep and bear arms, this attack would have gone very differently.
