The Rape and Aggression Defense classes (RAD) teaches women how to react when attacked. Centenary College offers the course in a weekly series totaling nine hours per semester.
In Shreveport, LA one in every four women becomes a victim of sexual assault. Hoping to reduce that statistic, Centenary College Police in Shreveport is hosting self-defense classes.
Chief Eddie Walker who teaches the class says a big part of protecting yourself is making sure you don’t fiddle with your keys or use your phone when in public.
“Staying focused keeping your eyes and ears to what’s going on around you. That’s the big thing because part of it is getting a self defense, a defensive stance and in order to do that you have got to know that there’s a threat coming.”
