In its most recent group, the Colorado Springs Police Explorer Program saw a total of 71 cadets, according to Fox 21 in Colorado.

This program gets them in patrol cars, in the stations, and behind the scenes to learn about the criminal justice system, all while exploring a possible future career in law enforcement.

They attend an Explorer Academy, monthly meetings and participation in five hours of community service each month. Cadets over the age of 16 can ride along with patrol officers.

… The cadets actually save the city $78,000 for their 3,700 volunteer hours on safety patrols and traffic control at major city events.

“They are very very motivated, they really have a passion for this. It’s fun to be around and it actually energizes me,” Mike Singles, an officer and School Resource Officer with CSPD, told Fox 21.
