Colt dropped a big bomb today, one sure to make revolver fans swoon. The Colt Python 3″ joins the rebirth of the famous wheelgun, adding to previous models launched last year to much fanfare.
Colt Python 3″ Details
In 2020, Colt brought back its famous revolver after a more than 20-year production hiatus. The Python 6″ and 4.25″ revolvers the Cobra and King Cobra in the Colt stables. And it immediately turned heads, winning the 2020 Ballistic’s Best Reader’s Choice Award for Best Revolver.
Now the 3-inch version comes chambered in .357 Magnum, featuring a six-round cylinder. Finished in semi-bright stainless steel, the barrel and frame contrast with the revolver’s walnut grips. Those grips evoke a traditional style, with deep checkering and inlaid golden Colt logo. A ribbed top strap and full-length underlug remain unchanged from the famous original.
The double- and single-action Python comes with a spurred hammer. Colt claims the gun exhibits a smooth trigger pull for accurate shooting. To help keep round center mass, a match-grade rear sight provides adjustment for both elevation and windage. It mates with an interchangeable red-ramp front sight for its sight picture.
A steel frame handles full-house .357 Magnum loads. But shooter can opt to fire .38 Spl. as well, always a favorite for wheelgun enthusiasts. But with a 3-inch barrel, this Python should find its way into EDC pursuits as well.
The Colt Python 3″ retails for $1,499. For even more info, please visit colt.com.
