Colt’s Manufacturing Company has announced that they are now selling upper receiver assembly kits in a variety of different barrel lengths and configurations. According to the press release, the kits are based on Colt’s LE6920 and LE6940 models. They come in two configurations: a standard upper receiver with a handguard, or a monolithic one-piece receiver with a free-floating barrel. Three models come with a barrel length of 16.1-inches, while the other two upper assemblies are available with a 14.5-inch barrel length.
“The upper assembly conversion kits will allow us to offer more high-quality, state-of-the-art choices to our customers,” said Joyce Rubino, Vice President of Marketing for Colt’s Manufacturing. “The upper assemblies are made to the same military specifications and are subject to the same rigorous testing processes as every rifle that comes off our line.”
As the press release notes, all of these assembly kits come with a charging handle and a complete bolt carrier group with a properly head-spaced bolt, and are ready to mount on a Colt lower receiver. In addition, these upper assembly kits come with chrome-lined bolt carriers and barrels, all of which come with a 1:7 right hand twist. A rear back-up sight is also included. The LE6920SCMCK comes with a Troy rail.
One of the most appealing features of these assembly kits is that they are compatible with all Colt lower receivers. The assembly kits will ship with an adapter screw to enable the end user to attach the upper to Colt models with larger pivot pins (.315” diameter).
The manufacturer suggested retail price ranges from $740 – $1,056, depending on the model.
