One of the coolest compact carbines just got a little cooler. CZ announced the release of its popular Scorpion EVO S1 Carbine in .22 LR, giving sport shooters or those looking for low-cost training, or even some fun on the range, a low-recoil, semi-auto option.
CZ Scorpion EVO S1 Carbine in .22 LR
The carbine features a 16-inch 1/2″x28 UNEF threaded barrel. It comes with a cylindrical compensator mounted on the muzzle. The barrel length ensures the full ballistic potential from .22 LR, according to CZ. Meanwhile, the compensator keeps already light .22 LR recoil low and flat for fast follow-up shots. A folding, telescoping stock enables easy carry in a pack. Adjustable sights and a a full-length Picatinny rail provide sighting options.
Inside, a dynamic bolt is optimized for operation with all types of ammunition, according to CZ. The system field strips for easy field maintenance. A fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame helps keep weight down: the carbine weighs just 6 pounds. A 10-round magazine ships with the rifle.

Editor’s Note:
At the recent SHOT Show, this little carbine was beyond popular during the annual media range day. A line of shooters formed early morning, and it never seemed to relent. Folks just couldn’t get enough of it. And with good reason, as the ergonomics and styling are everything we’ve come to expect in the Scorpion line, now in a fun and inexpensive to shoot rimfire. This one looks like a home run with anyone that gets on the trigger.
