A few years back, Daniel Defense announced it was launching of a new rifle package aimed at honoring America’s elite warfighters and contemporary campaigns. The Daniel Defense Global War on Terror (GWOT) rifle package was available for purchase only by active duty and retired military and law enforcement professionals, U.S. veterans, and those that served our nation during a time of need. While no longer available new today, it can be found on the used market.

“This is our way of honoring and thanking the brave men and women who serve—and have served—this great country of ours,” Daniel Defense Founder/Executive Chairman Marty Daniel said after the launch. “The GWOT rifle package is available exclusively for military and law enforcement customers and won’t be offered to the general public. It’s an upgrade of our best-selling M4A1 RIII at a special price point.”

The rifle package came with several pieces of upgraded gear, including a Blue Force Gear Vickers sling. Magpul MBUS Pro flip-up sights provided a solid backup system. A Mil-Spec Flat Dark Earth (FDE) Cerakote finish coversed the RIII rail. The lower sported a Global War on Terror engraving; meanwhile shooters also received a matching commemorative challenge coin.

Chambered in 5.56mm NATO, the remaining aspect of the rifle came from the M4A1 RIII platform. It includes a 14.5-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel and a mid-length gas system. The rifle also sported an ambidextrous safety, magazine release and bolt catch. A GRIP-N-RIP Charging Handle, and 12.5-inch RIS III handguard with M-LOK attachment rounded out the package.

Daniel Defense limited the sale of the rifle to military or law enforcement.
