The Decatur Police Department in Georgia is set to offer the nationally renowned Rape Aggression Defense class for women.
According to the Decatur Metro, the next women’s self-defense class will take place on Saturday mornings in February 2015 (the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Decatur Police Department.
The class, which is 12 hours long, helps women become more aware, confident and prepared to protect themselves if they’re ever placed in a dangerous position.
“The class is physical but it is not difficult,” Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross wrote in an email to the Decatur Metro. “The moves are simple because it is not about brute strength. It is about learning simple techniques, you retain through repetition, that you can use no matter your size or strength. The goal is to give you options to defend yourself and unnamedget out of danger, not square off and engage an attacker.”
The class is completely free of charge. There are only a few slots left for the upcoming February courses. But, as it is an ongoing program, those interested in the Rape Aggression Defense class can simply contact Sgt. Ross at the Decatur Police Department to be put on a list for notification on when courses are scheduled.
